Friends of Abilities First is a non-profit organization 501(c)(3) that assists with the growing needs and expenses of people with developmental disabilities in Greene County, when there are no other funding sources available. Friends of Abilities First also provides opportunities for inclusion where people live, learn, work, and play. Contributions to Friends of Abilities First help:
- People to live independently in their own home.
- Promote employment opportunities.
- Access emergency funding.
- Obtain personal items.
- Provide scholarships for Art Inspired Academy students.
More importantly, Friends of Abilities First helps people achieve their dreams of a good life!

Fundraisers
Ride On
RIDE ON is an annual bike ride featuring routes of 13, 26, 50 and 64 miles. This year, all routes will begin and end at the Lake Springfield Park and Boathouse, 5324 S. Kissick in Springfield. The event includes an after party which includes food, refreshments, and entertainment following the ride. Everyone is invited to participate. Proceeds benefit people with developmental disabilities in our community.
In 2019, the 4th annual RIDE ON raised over $14,000 to help enhance the lives of people with developmental disabilities.
Silver Strands Celebration
Silver Strands Celebration is an annual dinner honoring individuals and businesses in our community who make a difference in the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities. The event is held in March at Hickory Hills Country Club.
