Community Education works with schools, businesses, groups, and organizations to promote the important benefits of inclusion in the community for everyone.
The program also provides the necessary tools and education for people with developmental disabilities to become self-advocates, and for family members to become effective advocates for their loved one.
An important part of community education is addressing the sexual abuse, neglect and exploitation of individuals with developmental disabilities. These crimes are often unrecognized, unpunished and unreported. The team focuses on educating people with developmental disabilities, families, caregivers and the community at large on abuse prevention, human sexuality, healthy relationships, and the availability of services for victims.
