HELPING OVER 2,000 FAMILIES IN GREENE COUNTY REACH A NEW LEVEL OF POTENTNIAL.

MEET NATE AND HIS FAMILY – Through support of The Next STEP Program, Partnership for Hope and the Arc of the Ozarks, Nate has made remarkable progress! Diagnosed with autism, he’s now expressing himself with smiles, eye contact, requests, laughter and a communication device, and he’s eating healthy foods for the first time.

In the past few months, Nate began showing physical affection for the first time.  His parents are amazing and 100% committed to ensure that his abilities are fully explored!
"ISABELLA" | THE MIRACLE OF EARLY INTERVENTION
Isabella is a beautiful 2 ½ year old little girl. When she first started therapy for Autism and anxiety, shortly after she turned a year old, she couldn’t walk or talk.  A year and a half later, Bella not only walks – SHE RUNS!
She is also talking and learning her colors.  Mom, Christine, says “The First STEPS Program is truly a blessing, and the therapists are angels.  My family is forever thankful and grateful for all of the services they provide my family.”
THE GOAL OF THE FIRST STEPS PROGRAM:
Early intervention is about helping infants and toddlers acquire important developmental skills, such as crawling, playing, talking and eating, during their first three years.  By bringing families together with early intervention specialists, families can learn new ways to encourage and support their child's development.
"JOSH" | BUILDING THE BRIDGE TO INDEPENDENCE
Josh Wallace has a system that’s completely individualized and perfect for him.  He receives both non-waiver (SCIL, assistance from parents and in-home health care) and waiver supports (personal care attendant with Stepping Stones and Burrell).  He also resides in his own apartment and proudly directs his own supports.  He is adamant about remaining
THE GOAL OF THE NextSTEP PROGRAM:
To facilitate a trusting, caring relationship between the Service Coordinator and the individual.
independent regardless of his disability. Through The NextSTEP program, his Support Coordinator recently helped him aquire a service dog named “Squirrel” who will soon start training to better meet Josh’s needs!
"HOWARD" | FINDING OPPORTUNITY THROUGH ART
ART INSPIRED:
Providing employment opportunities for persons with developmental disabilities who might otherwise not be able to work.
Howard Snider has a love for art.  Throughout the years, he has taken classes in drawing, painting and ceramics – even winning several ribbons at the Ozark Empire Fair.  Howard’s latest creations are his robot figurines using recycled materials, which have been featured at Art Inspired,
a program of ABILITIES FIRST.
Howard is very independent, and with the assistance of Nova Center of the Ozarks (funding recipients of ABILITIES FIRST), he is able live and work in the creative field, for which he is
eternally grateful.
