WE RISE WHEN WE WORK TO LIFT OTHERS
From newborns to toddlers and teenagers to adults, Abilities First helps people with developmental disabilities in our community enhance their lives, empower their voices and achieve their dreams.

ABILITIES FIRST and its programs, retail stores and grant funding recipients support a wide variety of services including:  early intervention for infants and toddlers, residential services, independent living assistance, employment and transportation services.  The goal is to provide all the necessary supports, services, resources, and opportunities for anyone with a developmental disability to thrive on a daily basis and throughout the many transitions of their lives.

THE FIVE WAYS WE SERVE OUR LOCAL AREA:
Our programs offer opportunities for all ages, from birth to seniors. We also own and operate an upscale resale boutique; an art retail store and gallery boutique.
FIRST STEPS | Helping children ages birth to 3 years reach their highest potential.
EARLY INTERVENTION
ABILITIES FIRST believes strongly in the importance of early Intervention.   It’s about helping infants and toddlers acquire important developmental skills, such as crawling, playing, talking and eating, during their first three years.

For over 20 years, we’ve brought families together with early intervention specialists. Early intervention teams consist of speech therapists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, special instructors, and service coordinators.

THE NEXT STEP | Building stronger connections.
REACHING DREAMS TOGETHER
The goal of The NEXT STEP is to facilitate a trusting, caring relationship between the Support Coordinator and the individual.  That leads to better planning and achievement of the goals set by the individual and the family throughout the many phases of his or her life.

We outline outcomes, action steps, timelines, and identify who is responsible, so people with developmental disabilities can reach their dreams.
